Metal and spice

Salty, sour, spicy, or a combination of the three?

Chapel

The building in the photo is an old chapel in Greenbelt Park where night masses are held.
This would probably be my last blog entry at least for 3 weeks as I will be out of the country. :-)

Red grape shake

I ordered this very refreshing and delicious red grape shake and it was the perfect drink to the very, very hot weather we're having. We also ordered drinking water which they served in a tall bottle (the one behind the shake). Interestingly, the drink has a piece of mint herb floating inside the bottle which gives the otherwise plain water a minty cool flavor.

Greenbelt mall and park

A nice lunch break at the Greenbelt mall in Ayala Center. Most of the people are dining inside to avoid the heat of the day. We were under the shade. :-)

GT Tower aglow

I just took this shot a few hours ago as I was walking from across the street. I love it!

Can you guess what fastfood restaurant this is? :-)

If you look at the building in the center you can see the reflection of the building where I'm took this shot from.

Crazed Flip-floppers

Here in Manila, the Brazilian flip-flop import Havaianas and as well as other brands that followed suit continue to be patronized and I should say flocked by hordes of crazed flip-floppers. I really do not get this trend... Sure they're from Brazil, they're nice to look at and comfortable to wear, but I wouldn't pay as much as US$20 for a pair...
Wait till the new stocks come out, you will usually see a queue of people that stretches out into the neighboring store.

Candlelight Flower

The restaurant where we had our dinner had this simple yet beautiful lamp that cast petal-like shadows on the table. Cute isn't it?

Old Jeepney in Ayala

I took this photo yesterday as I was riding inside another jeepney in front of this one. Jeepneys are still a major form of transportation for most of Metro Manila's roads and have been a part of the Filipino commuter's life since after World War II.

Art Gallery = Food court?

I thought I'd venture out of the outdoor shots that I've been posting since I started this blog to break the monotony. :-)

What you're looking at above is the food court in GT Tower which is a bit interesting because instead of the usual bleak walls and furniture that can be found in food courts, this one is a food court and an art gallery in one! Eating at this place won't only satisfy your appetite, it will also fill your visual senses with interesting pieces of art - paintings, handicrafts and even a live band on Friday nights and the general feeling of "this is not your usual food court".

A view of Ayala Avenue

A view of a section of the Makati Central Business District from the office window. Ayala Avenue, the WallStreet of the Philippines is located at the left most side of the picture. If you look closely you will see a slight smudge near the top of the photo. This is because the window from which this shot was taken was a little dirty. I wonder why those window cleaners that hang precariously from outside haven't been doing their job lately...

Giant Globe

This is the giant metal-framed globe that can be found at a roundabout in front of the SM Mall of Asia which is the largest mall in the Philippines and the 6th largest in the world. The globe changes its color from blue to red, purple, green and gold and kind of reminds me of a similar structure in Universal Studios in the US.

GT Tower International

Standing at 220 meters, GT Tower International is one of the tallest buildings in the country. This tower of angles of steel and glass is one of my favorite buildings in Makati, and it also happens to be my office location. The interesting cloud formation above the building makes it look like the 'Angel of Death' is passing over the place. :-p

Mabuhay! You are viewing Manila, Philippines.

Metro Manila is the capital of the Philippines.
At 12 million residents, it is one of the most populous and cosmopolitan cities in Asia.
This shot overlooking the central business district was taken aboard a plane enroute to the white sandy beaches of Boracay, located on an island south of Manila.
